Hindsight

Wrap up in a blanket
for hindsight is cold
And life has given you plenty
Regrets that are memory
And the freeze that they give
Is so very empty

Where will you go
When you look so far back
At your wintry life sorrows
And your life's unfulfilled
Your dreams so far from your grasp
The present is no longer real

Therefore move forward
Stop backward glances
Come into the sun to bathe
Shed your old coat of frost
And the clothing of regret
For the future which is not yet lost.

Beautiful sentiment and not so far from mine---" regrets I have some, but in passing I find, the could have been memories are better left behind." Funny that is the second time today I thought of that. Hope you have a great week-end. No regrets :)

A wonderful poem Marjorie enjoyed it very much. Congrats on the award I noticed you've been given, well deserved.

Thanks for the visit yes, I did think of writing about not being any wars but decided not to.

Great blog and beautiful poem.

Hindsight is a nice choice. It's one of those words I often utter when I realize my folly and want to go back in time. The word carries that redemptive quality, which is why I like it!

Oh, this is great, Marjorie--it's so true. We can waste a lot of time and energy on what we did wrong or failed to do and there is nothing at all to be gained.

MARJORIE ~
I like your poetry (even though ordinarily I don't like much poetry). I remember that it was your poetry from last year's "A To Z" Blogfest that inspired me to begin "Following" your blog. (And you should note that I don't "Follow" too many blogs!)

This poem was also good; technically well written and with an admirable viewpoint. However, I can't personally relate to it.

Yeah, for me, the future (in "this world" anyway) is TOTALLY LOST! I have thrown in the towel on "this life".

But, in those immortal words of Ed Wood Junior: "My next one will be better!"

Marjorie, this is wonderful. The connection between regret and a cold blanket wrapped around your shoulders.
