Project 2- Self Portraits

I told you all to expect posts on my projects. Project number 2 was self portraits. I don't have anything much to say about them. They were supposed to show who I am in some way. I hope at least that came across.

Well, that's it. That's me. I thought they turned out well enough. Whether they were well enough for the prof. remains to be seen.

The next post will be on the "Tucson Meet Yourself" folk festival. Stay tuned.

MARJORIE ~
These are good. I especially like the one where you're playing with your son. (I guess that's your son.)

In the first one, you look as if you had been crying... or maybe had a cold.

Buck up, little camper, things'll improve!

Stephen, Thanks. I really like the second one as well. I'm tempted to say it's my favorite. Yes, that is my son.

Your take on that first photo is interesting. On critique day in class my prof. thought my eyes looked happy. I suppose the interpretations on that one vary.

They are all really gorgeous.

I love the second one- make it your profile picture, PLEASE.

You look really glam in the third one, and the fourth one is the pensive image you often portray. The first is nice too, but I don't really like the saddness that it shows.

And did you shoot with a self timer? I would love to attempt something like the second one for myself, but I am not sure I would be able to pull it off.

Edited to add- I just noticed you saying your teacher saying the first one radiated happiness. Whichever way I look at it, I don't see it as being happy. *shurgs*

These are great Marjorie--I love that second one, too and find it interesting is the only real smile we see is you interacting with your baby. I love that third shot though--the Marjorie not to be underestimated--I think that is the determined artist within, so it's my favorite.

Hmmm... Well, that IS interesting, because he and I saw it 180 degrees differently.

Do you recall what you were feeling the day you took that picture?

In the pictures I see you as a mostly reserved, private, and intensely contemplative person. Your privacy comes through by the fact that in all pictures except the last part of your face is hidden and in that last picture you appear detached from the viewer and lost in another place.

In the first photo I don't think you look sad, but just trying to be hidden and cautious about revealing who you are. The picture with your son is the most relaxed, candid, and emotional-- but with your son and not the viewer.

Very nice self portraits. You are becoming quite the excellent photograper.

Hey Marjorie,
I LOVE the pictures, they are beautiful. I have to say my favorite is the third one. It made me flash back to reading Edgar Allen Poe with you, some of my favorite memories
